From Struggle to Success – Odeta Stuikys Rose

The road to success sometimes is barbed. There are many obstacles to pass through to finally enjoy the reward. The case of Odeta Stuikys Rose, a beautiful and smart woman born on December 5, 1985, in Rochester, New York is an inspiring one and exactly as this- she had many struggles until she became what is today- one of the best doctors at the Mayo Clinic.

Odeta was not intended since forever to become a doctor. She dreamed of becoming a fashion designer and became a part of the fashion shows and uses her creativity to create magical pieces of clothes. But, the destiny didn’t want her to do that. Or the Universe, who knows.

Her father, Paul Stuikys Rose suffered from a brain cancer. A couple of months after cancer have been revealed her father died. Seeing her mother suffering, she swore that she will try to spare other families from a pain like the one they felt. 

So she left her dreams and decided to become a doctor, specialized for cancer.  First, she got a B.S Degree in Medical Science at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and after that became a Doctor of Medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Before this, she knew nothing about diseases. But after her father’s death, Odeta Stuikys Rose started learning. She was reading books, she became obsessed with those things and scared that life can be cruel and took another beloved one just as he did with her father.

Soon after she became a doctor, she got a job at the Rochester General Hospital, and soon after, she moved to Mayo Clinic, one of the tops ranged hospitals for cancer in the States. 

The beginning was not easy at all. She believed that she can save every patient in the hospital who had cancer. But the cancer is an insidious disease. Just when you think you’ve won the battle, cancer came back to show you that he won. Odeta Stuikys Rose couldn’t face that. She had nightmares; she was blaming herself for all the deaths that were happening each day. 

The hospital board saw that something is going on with Odeta. They couldn’t let a doctor with these kinds of problems to cure patients, so they made her go on a long vacation and clear her mind.

This wasn’t good for her career. There was a stain on her file. Luckily, the vacation that she took made great things not just for her career, but for her whole life. While she was spending some time alone in the Maldives, she met Mike Johanson, the man of her life. They fall in love and were dating for a couple of months. Now they are engaged and this fall, they’ll have their dream wedding. Odeta is back on a work in the hospital and is giving her best to help to every single patient there. However, when there isn’t cure, she is not falling into depressions as before because she learned that some things cannot change. When there isn’t life given by God, neither the best doctor in the world cannot do anything.

Odeta this month was declared as a Doctor of the month. People at the hospital, patients, and all the staff loves her due to her kindness and will to help everyone. This is her prove that although there are struggles, at the end everything will pay off.
